Mnemosyne Tune Library Support and Tips

The basic features of Mnemosyne Tune library are covered on our home page As we receive questions and suggestions, or add more complex features we'll create additional entries on this page for ease of use and guidance.

Requesting Support

The App Information screen of the application is available via an icon at the upper left of every screen. From App Information you can send us an email requesting support or suggesting features by touching the Support & Feature Requests (EMail) item. Note that email support depends on email being previously configured on your device -- consult your device manufacturer's documentation if you have any problems bringing up your email screen to contact us.

Our support is only as good as the information you give us. Please try to address the following items in your support request.

1. What release and build are you running?. You can find the release and build number at the very top of the App Information screen. You'll see something like "Welcome to Tune Library 1.0.0 (4)". The "1.0.0 (4)" part is the release and build we'll be needing.
2. What Screen Were You On? Each screen has a name at the very top of the screen ... for example the "Tune Library" screen says "Tune Library" at the top, and the "Import Tune" screen will say "Import from " and then the name of your currently selected import site at the top. Let us know where you were when the problem happened
3. What Were You Trying To Do? For example you may have been trying to find a tune in the library, or filter library tunes, or import a tune, or change your import site. Let us know what you had in mind.
4. What did you Expect, and What Happened Instead? Let us know what you expected to happen, and what happened instead. If you can, please take a screen shot that shows the problem, using whatever means your device allows. If you can't show us, describe what happened as clearly as you can.

Making Suggestions

We're very interested in your thoughts and suggestions for improving Mnemosyne Tune Library. Please use the Support & Feature Requests (EMail) item in the App Information screen to let us know what features would make Mnemosyne Tune Library more useful to you and to others.

We're especially interested in new sites we can add that will expand access to Old Timey tunes. At this time import sites need to have music in the "ABC" format to be played and displayed, which limits available options. We can, in theory, also import audio and video, but don't know how we can do so while honoring the rights of the artists and copyright holders.

Supporting Import Sites

Each of the import sites exists because a dedicated person or group has gone to a great deal of trouble to collect and catalog traditional tunes. All will have a support page for contributions and we strongly encourage you to support them.

Our long term plans for Mnemosyne Tune Library include creating a structure where app purchase or subscription payments can be equitably shared between the sites in a collaborative arrangement.
